Designing Again

When I began my quilting business about 15 years ago, I started as a pattern designer. I haven’t done any designing in several years. But I found I was missing it. So I’ve just been getting started again. One pattern I had taught as a class but never published. I’m now working on a new sample of that and hope to write the instructions soon. Another pattern is something very new. I’m just finishing the sample and will be working on the instructions. I thought I’d share a sneak peak of it:

I’m using a fabric line from Moda called “Essence”. Fun colors, don’t you think?

I was going to show you some of the other patterns I’ve published, but I can only find a photo of one of them on this computer…..

This is “Annie’s Star”. My dog named it for me. Really, she did. I had been playing with block arrangements, and had this version laying on the floor of my sewing room. (I didn’t have a design wall in those days, just a design floor.)

I went upstairs to find Annie lying in the middle of the blocks taking a nap. I decided that was a sign to sew it together that way, and named it for her. Who would have guessed that her quilt would even make it onto the cover of a magazine!

Here is Annie. This photo was taken several years ago. She is 14 now, and much grayer. Aren’t we all…..
